General Overview

The Microsoft Application Center 2000 (Application Center) command-line tool provides automated administration and management of Application Center. The tool supports key administrative functions of the Application Center user interface, making it easy and efficient for you to perform critical tasks from the command line.

The command-line tool is implemented in the form of an executable file, named Ac.exe. The Application Center installation adds the installation directory to your path, making it possible to run Ac.exe from any directory.

You can execute the command line tool from any computer on which Application Center is installed. Its commands support remote execution and you can provide security credentials via command-line switches. If credentials are not supplied, the current logon information is used.

For detailed information on command-line basics, see Using the Command-Line Tools.
