Application Center and Logging Security

The Application Center log uses integrated security and the Application Center Events and Performance Logging database.

Integrated Security

The Application Center log uses integrated security, with Read/Write access granted to the Application Center administrative group ACA_ machine_name and the server's own Administrators group. ACA_ machine_name is used for performing work on the local cluster. ACL_ machine_name is a member of this group and is used to write logging information to the Application Center log.

Named Database Instances

The Application Center log uses the Application Center Events and Performance Logging database, which runs as a named instance. This allows multiple copies of Microsoft SQL Serverâ„¢ 2000 to run on the same server. This, plus the fact that Application Center uses a different port number, isolates the monitoring database from conventional installations of SQL Server. As a result, potential performance and security issues are eliminated when running Application Center Events and Performance Logging and SQL Server on the same computer.
