Storage Group Properties > General Tab (RTM)

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007

Use the General tab to display and change the name of a storage group, enable and disable circular logging for a storage group, and provide status and configuration information for a storage group.

Note

You can also use the Exchange Management Shell to obtain information about storage groups. For more information, see Get-StorageGroup (RTM).

This tab displays the following storage group information.

  • Storage group name
This box displays the name of the storage group. You can use this box to modify the name of the storage group.
  • Log path
This read-only field displays the full path to the storage group log files.
  • System path
This read-only field displays the full path to the storage group system files.
  • Log file prefix
This read-only field displays the log file prefix that is used by the storage group. To distinguish between log files that belong to different storage groups, log file names start with a log file prefix that is unique to each storage group.
  • Modified
This read-only field displays the date and time at which the storage group configuration was last modified.
  • Enable circular logging
Use this check box to enable and disable circular logging for the storage group. Circular logging allows Exchange to overwrite transaction log files after the data within those log files has been committed to the database. However, if circular logging is enabled, you can recover data only up until the last full backup.

If local continuous replication (LCR) is enabled for this storage group, you cannot enable circular logging and this check box will not be available. For information about managing LCR, see Managing Local Continuous Replication.

You can also use the Exchange Management Shell to enable and disable circular logging for a storage group. For more information, see Set-StorageGroup (RTM).
