Use the SMTP Address and Custom Address dialog boxes to specify a new e-mail address and address type for the recipient. This dialog box appears when you click Add or Edit on the E-mail Addresses tab in a recipient's property page.
|To open the Custom Address dialog box, on the E-Mail Addresses tab, click the down arrow next to Add, and then click Custom Address.|
- E-mail address
Use this box to type the new address.
Note: Exchange validates Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) addresses for proper formatting. If your entry is inconsistent with SMTP format, an error message will be displayed when you click OK.
- E-mail type
Use this box to type the e-mail address type. The e-mail address type cannot exceed 9 characters.
The e-mail address type is the identifying proxy information for the e-mail address. Exchange uses this information to determine how to process the e-mail address.
Note: In the SMTP Address dialog box, this box is automatically populated with SMTP and cannot be modified.
Examples of custom e-mail types include X400, GroupWise, and Lotus Notes.
This box is disabled when editing existing e-mail addresses.
