How to Revert a Configuration Manager Site to Mixed Mode
Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2
When the site mode is changed (either migrated to native mode or reverted to mixed mode) for a Configuration Manager 2007 primary site, all secondary sites are automatically configured with the following information:
The site mode the site is operating in (mixed or native)
The ports used for client-to-server communication
Whether or not the site is using a custom Web site
The new site settings information is published to Active Directory Domain Services to enable clients to be reconfigured for client-to-site server communications. If the site contains clients that cannot read site settings published in Active Directory Domain Services, you must also have an external mechanism such as Group Policy or a script to instruct clients to revert to mixed mode communication.
|The migration process that Configuration Manager 2007 undergoes when you perform this procedure can take some time to complete, and for a sustained period of time, clients might not be able to communicate with the site. Therefore, plan to perform this procedure during a quiet period when it is acceptable that the site will be unavailable because of maintenance downtime.|
Use the following procedure if you need to revert a Configuration Manager site from native mode to mixed mode site.
To revert the site mode from native mode to mixed mode:
In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management.
Right-click <site code> -<site name> and then click Properties.
On the Site Mode tab in the site properties dialog box, select Mixed for the option Site mode.
Configure other mixed mode options as required.
Note For information about the options in this dialog box, see Site Properties: Site Mode Tab.
