Add and Remove Cluster IP Addresses

For clusters that are using NLB, you can add and remove cluster IP addresses, or virtual IP addresses (VIPs), by using the Application Center user interface. For NLB clusters, Application Center does not support modification of the cluster's primary IP address, which is the first IP address listed.

For clusters that are not using NLB, you cannot configure IP addresses for the cluster through the Application Center user interface. Most likely, you will need to add and remove IP addresses directly on the load balancing device.

To modify the cluster's primary IP address, remove all members, and then modify the primary IP address in the NLB Properties dialog box. Then, add each member back to the cluster. As you add members, they acquire the new primary IP address from the controller.

To add a cluster IP address

  1. In the Application Center snap-in, click the cluster on which to add the IP address.

  2. In the details pane, click Edit IP Addresses.

If this option does not appear or appears dimmed, Application Center did not detect NLB on the cluster.

  3. In the Cluster IP Address Editor dialog box, click Add.

  4. In the Add New IP Address dialog box, enter the IP address to add to the cluster, and then click OK.

  5. Click Close to return to the previous view or click Add to add another IP address.

To remove a cluster IP address

  1. In the Application Center snap-in, click the cluster on which to remove the IP address.

  2. In the details pane, click Edit IP Addresses.

If this option does not appear or appears dimmed, Application Center did not detect NLB on the cluster.

  3. In the Cluster IP Address Editor dialog box, select the IP address to remove from the cluster, and then click Remove.

  4. Click OK to confirm removal of the selected IP address.

  5. Click Close to return to the previous view or select another IP address to remove.
