How to Modify the Properties of a Guest Operating System Profile

You can modify any existing Virtual Machine Manager guest operating system profile if you want to change settings for one or more components on that profile. After you make changes, any new virtual machines that are created by using that profile will use the updated settings.

Changes made to a stand-alone guest operating system profile affect only the profile itself. Changes do not affect any existing virtual machines that were created earlier by using this profile, nor do they affect settings on a template into which this stand-alone profile was imported earlier. No association is maintained with the guest operating system profile after a virtual machine or template is created.

Similarly, if you import a stand-alone guest operating system profile into a template and then modify guest operating system configuration settings on the template, these changes do not affect the original stand-alone guest operating system profile.

Use the following procedure to navigate to the guest operating system profile whose properties you want to modify.
