Planning Process Service diagram

Planning Process Service runs workflow items. It handles Planning Server job processing such as data loading jobs and financial intelligence jobs. Examples of financial intelligence jobs include consolidation, currency conversions, intercompany reconciliation, and shares calculations. Planning Web Service is responsible for data submissions from PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel, cube processing requests, and audit and trace logging.

Jobs that run directly from Planning Business Modeler are run in Planning Web Service. Jobs run through PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel are scheduled by Planning Web Service and run in Planning Process Service .

Planning Process Service uses the Microsoft .NET Framework, ADO.NET and ADOMD.NET, and Microsoft SQL Server Service Broker.

Data Manager

The Data Manager component of Planning Process Service provides the ability to validate, save, and submit data entered by users.

Financial Intelligence

The Financial Intelligence component of Planning Process Service runs the Rules Calculation, Consolidation, and Shares Calculation engines as a result of job execution.

Data Integration

The Data Integration component of Planning Web Service supports jobs for data loading, the outbound feature and data movement.
