Work securely with the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel

The PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel is designed to minimize the amount of data that is saved within Microsoft Office Excel workbooks. The PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel provides separate options for saving Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 reports, publishing form templates, and submitting data in an assignment. You can use the standard file menu Save and Save As commands in Office Excel to save workbooks to your local computer. However, we recommend that you instead use the procedures in this article because using Save and Save As in Office Excel to save to the local computer:

  • Does not change the status of the assignment.

  • Does not save the information to PerformancePoint Server.

  • Can expose personal or business data to security risks.

The following procedures describe how to save reports, form templates, and assignment data to PerformancePoint Server from the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel.

Save reports

  1. On the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel menu or Office Excel 2007 Fluent user interface menu, click PerformancePoint.

  2. Click Reports.

  3. Click Save or Save As.

Save form templates

  1. On the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel menu or Office Excel 2007 Fluent user interface menu, click PerformancePoint.

  2. Click Reports.

  3. Click Publish.

  4. Click As Form Template.

Save assignment data

  1. From the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel action pane, open Available Actions.

  2. Select Available Actions to submit data and change the status of an assignment.
