To create a server farm

  1. In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click Firewall Policy.

  2. On the Toolbox tab, click Network Objects.

  3. On the toolbar beneath Network Objects, click New, and then click Server Farm.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

To open ISA Server Management, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then click ISA Server Management.
For ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition, expand Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006, expand Arrays, expand Array_Name, and then click Firewall Policy.
For ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition, expand Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006, expand Server_Name, and then click Firewall Policy.

Important

Server farms are used for publishing load-balanced Web applications.
You can add an existing load balanced cluster as a server farm.
ISA Server creates a connectivity verifier for each Web server when you configure a server farm. On the Connectivity Monitoring page of this wizard, you can specify an HTTP/HTTPS "GET" request , a Ping request, or a TCP connection as a connectivity verifier. Server connectivity can be monitored on the Connectivity tab of the Monitoring node.
The HTTP/HTTPS "GET" request option is only supported for servers whose names do not contain non-English characters.
If you select HTTP as the connectivity verifier method, you must enable the system policy rule titled: Allow HTTP/HTTPS requests from ISA Server to selected servers for connectivity verifiers.
If your Web server is configured to use a port other than port 80, specify that port on the Farm Connectivity tab. The default setting for the farm connectivity verifiers is a "GET" request for port 80.
If you configure the verifier to perform an HTTP/HTTPS "GET" request to a non-standard http port you will have to create an access rule to allow the requests to be sent to the servers.
You can monitor the connectivity of a farm by navigating on the Connectivity tab of the Monitoring node.
The No Connectivity alert is triggered each time a server in the farm is detected by the connectivity verifier to be offline.
If the entire farm is offline, the Web Farm servers unavailable alert is signaled.
After you click Apply in the details pane, the policy is updated. The new policy applies only to new connections.
