Connect to an ISA Server computer (Standard Edition)

To connect to an ISA Server computer (Standard Edition)ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition only

  1. In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006.

  2. On the Tasks tab, click Connect to Local or Remote ISA Server.

  3. In Connect to, select Another computer (remote management) and then type the name of the computer to administer.

  4. Select one of the following options:

    • Connect using the credentials of the logged-on user. To administer the remote ISA Server computer, using the credentials of the user who is currently logged on.
    • Connect using other user credentials. To specify the name of a different user, who will remotely manage the ISA Server computer. Then, type the user name, password, and domain for the user who will remotely manage the ISA Server computer.

Note

To open ISA Server Management, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then click ISA Server Management.

Important

You can specify a computer name using computer_name or IP address.
To manage a remote ISA Server computer using ISA Server Management, you must use the System Policy Editor to enable the Remote Management: Microsoft Management Console configuration group.
In addition, if you are connecting from the ISA Server computer, you must add an access rule, allowing the Local Host network to access the managed ISA Server computer using the Firewall Control protocol.
When providing credentials of a domain user, be sure to specify the domain field (in the format domain\DonH).
When providing credentials of a local user on a computer running Windows 2000 Server, do not specify a domain name.
When managing from a computer in a domain to an ISA Server computer that belongs to a workgroup, specify the domain name as the name of the ISA Server computer.
