Enabling or Disabling an HTTP Proxy

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Both the QoE Monitoring Server and the metric report consumer server will usually be located within your organizations internal network, so you will not need an HTTP proxy. By default, the QoE Monitoring Server will not use any HTTP proxy, and it will send the reports directly to the FQDN of the metric report consumer. You can, however, configure the QoE Monitoring Server to use the existing proxy settings for the Windows Internet Explorer® Internet browser that are configured for the QoE Monitoring Server by either local machine or Group Policy settings.

To enable or disable an HTTP proxy

  1. Log on to the QoE Monitoring Server as a member of the Administrators group.

  2. Start the Registry Editor: Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.

  3. In the console tree, right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Real-Time Communications\{5A1FE2B8-C687-4E7E-BF8B-0030BEABF28D}.

  4. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

  5. In the details pane, in the Name column, type EnableProxyForMetricsConsumer for the new value, and then press ENTER.

  6. In the details pane, right-click EnableProxyForMetricsConsumer, and then click Modify.

  7. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, in the Value data box, do one of the following:

    • To use the Internet Explorer HTTP proxy settings, type 1, and then click OK.

    • To no longer use the Internet Explorer HTTP proxy settings, type 0, and then click OK.

  8. Restart the QoE Monitoring service for the changes to take effect.
