Preparing to install Enterprise Manager

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

This topic provides an overview about how to prepare to install the Client Security Enterprise Manager.

Before installing Enterprise Manager in your organization, make sure you have done the following:

Task Steps

Segment your target managed computers into groups of no more than 10,000.

For more information, see Deploying the Client Security agent in an Enterprise Manager environment.

Install the Client Security deployments that will be managed by Enterprise Manager.

For more information about installing Client Security, see the Client Security Deployment Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=86998).

Important

In Client Security topologies that separate the collection server from other Client Security components, you must install Internet Information Services and ASP.NET on the collection server from Add/Remove Windows Components.

Prepare your network for installation.

If firewalls exist between your down-level Client Security deployments and the Enterprise Manager server, the appropriate network ports must be opened.

For more information, see Preparing your network for installing Enterprise Manager.

Create or identify the installation and service accounts.

You must be a user with local administrator privileges on all down-level servers, as well as the Enterprise Manager server, to install the Enterprise Manager components.

The Data Access Server (DAS) account on the down-level servers requires SQL Server permissions to be assigned.

For more information, see Verifying account permissions.
