Move or Copy an Item

You can organize e-mail messages, appointments, meetings, contacts, and tasks in your mailbox by moving or copying them.

How do I move an item to an existing folder?

  1. Select the item you want to move.
  2. Drag the item to move it to the destination folder.

How do I copy an item to an existing folder?

  1. Select the item you want to copy.
  2. Press CTRL, and then drag the item to copy it to the destination folder.
    Messages can be moved or copied only to message folders, contacts to contacts folders, tasks to task folders, and calendar items to calendar folders.

What else do I need to know?

In addition to dragging an item, you can move or copy it using the following methods.

  • Move or copy an item using the right-click menu.
    1. Right-click the message you want to move or copy, and then click move item Move to Folder or copy to folder Copy to Folder. A new window will appear showing the folders you can move or copy the message to. Select the folder to move or copy the message to, and then click Move or Copy.
    2. If you want to move or copy the message to a new folder, you can create the new folder by clicking Create New Folder in the Move to Folder or Copy to Folder window.
  • Move or copy an item using the toolbar.
    1. Click the message you want to move or copy to select it, or double-click the message to open it, then click move item Move or Copy to Folder on the toolbar, and then click move item Move to Folder or copy to folder Copy to Folder. A new window will appear showing the folders you can move or copy the message to. Select the folder you want to move or copy the message to, and then click Move or Copy.
    2. If you want to move or copy the message to a new folder, you can create the new folder by clicking Create New Folder in the Move to Folder or Copy to Folder window.

Messages can be moved or copied only to message folders, contacts to contacts folders, and tasks to task folders. Calendar items can't be moved or copied between folders.
