Management Pack Guides for Virtual Machine Manager
Three management packs are used with System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 (VMM). The Server Virtualization Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager (OpsMgr) 2007 provides reporting for Virtual Machine Manager, monitors the health and availability of all VMM components, and provides detailed monitoring of virtual machines and their hosts. If you have not yet deployed Operations Manager 2007, you can get similar monitoring capabilities by using two management packs for Microsoft® Operations Manager (MOM) 2005.
The following table describes each management pack and provides a link to a download site for the management pack guide. To find out more about a management pack, and to review deployment instructions, you can download the management pack guide in Word format.

The Server Virtualization Management Pack monitors the health and performance of Virtual Machine Manager components, including library servers, virtual machine self-service Web servers, the Virtual Machine Manager server, the VMM database server, hosts, and virtual machines.
The management pack also provides detailed monitoring of the health of virtual machines and their hosts through Virtual Server alerts and performance monitoring.
From the Operations Console, you can start and stop the VMM service and the Virtual Server service and can start, stop, pause, and shut down virtual machines.
