How to create a protection group

Before you can create your first protection group, you must add a disk to the storage pool and install agents on the file servers you plan to protect. To create a protection group, use the New Protection Group wizard.

To create a protection group

  1. In DPM Administrator Console, click Protection on the navigation bar.

  2. On the Actions pane, click Create.

    The New Protection Group wizard starts.

    Note

    If you have not added at least one disk to the storage pool, the Create task is disabled. To add disks to the storage pool, click Management on the navigation bar, and then select the Disks tab.

  3. Review the Welcome page, and then click Next.

  4. Follow the instructions in the wizard to create a protection group. Click Help on any wizard page if you need assistance while you are working in the wizard.

Note

If you do not want the wizard to display the Welcome page when you create protection groups in the future, select Skip this page next time.
