Table 6.4 provides guidance for troubleshooting issues that may occur during data recovery by an administrator using DPM Administrator Console.

You need to select multiple files for recovery.

To recover multiple files within a single protected folder, we recommend that you recover the folder rather than selecting individual files for recovery. Recovering individually selected files may take longer than recovering an entire folder.

When you try to recover data using the All Protected Shares node in DPM Administrator Console, the user interface freezes.

If you are protecting more than 100 shares, it is faster to recover data in the All Protected Volumes node. If you are protecting more than 500 shares, it is recommended that you always recover data in the All Protected Volumes node.

Do not expand the All Protected Shares node when you are protecting a large number of shares because that may cause DPM Administrator Console to freeze.

When recovering compressed files, the bytes transferred in the Monitoring task area are different from the sizes shown in the Recovery task area.

The Recovery task area displays the uncompressed file size.

Reparse points are not included in data recovery.

For security reasons, DPM does not include reparse points in replicas or shadow copies of protected data. After you recover a volume, folder, or share that contains a reparse point, you must manually recreate the reparse point. You can, however, recover the target of a reparse point just as you would any other protected volume, folder, or share, providing that the target is included as a member of a protection group.
