SMS Client System Requirements

SMS 2003 SP2 introduces the following changes in the way SMS Legacy and Advanced clients are supported.

Installation of the SMS 2003 SP2 Legacy Client is not supported on any client operating system capable of Advanced Client installation. Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft NT 4.0 SP6a are the only supporting operating systems for Legacy Clients.

SMS 2003 SP2 requires the Internet Explorer High Encryption upgrade for systems running NT 4.0 SP6a. The United States lifted their export controls in January 2000, and the English High Encryption (128 bit) version is now available for download and installation worldwide.

Advanced Client Operating Systems

SMS 2003 SP2 will not support Advanced Client installation on client platforms less than Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1.

SMS 2003 SP2 provides support for 64-bit server platforms as SMS Advanced Clients. It also offers limited support for Vista and Longhorn clients as an SMS 2003 SP2 Advanced Client. Full product support for Vista and Longhorn clients will be provided with SMS 2003 SP3.
