Review Security Requirements

To control user access to view MOM reports in the MOM Reporting console, you configure the security settings within SQL Server Reporting Services. For more information about configuring report security, see SQL Services Reporting Services Books Online.

Important

If you plan to use a secure connection for Reporting, you should set up the SSL configuration before installing Reporting. Doing so after Reporting is installed is a more complex process.

By default, the MOM Reporting console uses HTTP port 80 to communicate with the computer that hosts the SQL Server Reporting Services website. This means that you can use it across a firewall. However, if you are using SSL encryption, the port might be 443 and use the HTTPS protocol.

For additional information about reporting security, see the Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Security Guide.
