Deploying into Production

Deploying MOM into your production environment is one of the most critical phases of your MOM implementation. This phase requires cross-group work, across your organization, to stage the timing of deployment, to coordinate the physical work of installing MOM components, to monitor the results of deployment, and to continue to tune and optimize your MOM solution. During the deployment phase, you should refer to the Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Deployment Guide.

Building the Deployment Plan

Before you move into the deployment phase, build a plan for deploying MOM into your production environment, including the priority, order, and timing for the following:

  • Deploying multiple configuration groups for tiering or multihoming.

  • Deploying multiple Management Packs.

  • Deploying MOM to the NOC.

  • Deploying data warehousing and reporting.

  • Upgrading MOM 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) configuration groups, components, and Management Packs.

Once your deployment plan has been approved by all members of your deployment team, you are ready to begin the deployment phase. For prescriptive guidance, see the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Deployment guide.
