Status Messages

A comprehensive list of all SMS status messages is maintained in the SMS 2003 SP1 Status Message Documentation on the Microsoft Web site at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=46664. Because status messages are added with every SMS product release, not all of them are listed in this document. The status messages listed in Table 9 are generated when events particularly relevant to troubleshooting management points occur. These status messages may indicate success or failure, while others are purely informational.

Possible cause: This site's SMS Service Account or the site server's machine account might not have the correct rights to update Active Directory. Solution: Either give the Service Account rights to update the domain's System Container or manually create the System Management container in this domain's Active Directory system container,and give the Service Account full rights to that container (and all children objects). |

SMS Site Component Manager failed to install this component, because it can't configure IIS. Possible cause: IIS is not installed or running. Solution: Use Add/Remove Programs to install IIS, and verify that the World Wide Web Service is running. Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager does not have sufficient access rights to administer and configure IIS on this site system. Solution: Verify that the Site System Connection accounts are properly configured to allow SMS to administer the site system. SMS Site Component Manager cannot install <component name > until IIS is installed and configured correctly. Refer to your SMS documentation or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further information. |
