Application Center Management Pack Guide

The Application Center Management Pack is used to monitor Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2, deployed on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

Application Center

Application Center helps manage Web applications. Using Application Center clusters, Web site administrators can significantly improve the manageability, scalability, and availability of their Web applications.

Application Center Management Pack

The Application Center Management Pack collects events from Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and from the Windows event log that are generated by Application Center. This Management Pack alerts you about events that can indicate possible service outages, configuration problems, or security issues so that you can quickly take corrective or preventative actions. By monitoring those events, the Application Center Management Pack increases the security, availability, and performance of Application Center clusters in your organization.

The Application Center Management Pack enables the monitoring of Application Center functionality and components such as the following:

  • Application Center clusters

  • Replication

  • Request forwarding services

The Application Center Management Pack includes automated tasks to provide easy access to common network administration and diagnostic tools. It also includes reports that draw attention to performance bottlenecks and provide data for capacity planning.

This guide corresponds to version 05.0.3000.0000 of the Application Center Management Pack. After importing the Management Pack, check the version to ensure that it is correct.

To view the version of the installed Management Pack

  1. In the Administrator console, expand Management Packs and then expand Rule Groups.

  2. Right-click Microsoft Application Center (enabled), and select Properties.

  3. On the General tab, in the Rule Group Properties dialog box, the Version field displays the version number.

Requirements

For the Application Center Management Pack to operate optimally, the following requirements must be met:

  • Each Application Center server must be a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) agent-managed computer.

  • Any specific Application Center requirements must be met.
