Configuring Rule Groups and Rules
The rule groups and rules under the Request Sequence Groups rule group should not be moved or otherwise modified using the MOM Administrator console. You should always use the MP Configuration Wizard to make changes to the Request Sequence Groups and Request Sequences.
Warning
You should not manually add or move items in the Request Sequence Groups rule group, or they will be deleted the next time the MP Configuration Wizard runs. Additional notification rules and other custom rules that do not involve Request Sequences should be added to the Common Processing Rules rule group instead.
Your customizations should be backed up and saved regularly by exporting the Web Sites and Services MP. For more information about backing up the modified MP, see the “Exporting and Importing the Web Sites and Services MP” section of this guide.
Configuring the Alert Severity
The following rules are responsible for the alerts raised while monitoring Web sites and Web services:
Request Criteria Error
Request Criteria Warning
Request Sequence Criteria Error
Request Sequence Criteria Warning
The severity of the alerts will be either Error or Warning. To raise alerts with other severity values, you must copy these existing rules and modify the criteria to match your events. Once the new rule is configured, the original rules should be modified to exclude matching your event.
Configuring the Notification Rule
You must manually configure the notification settings of the Web Sites and Services MP, since the MP generates alerts with a severity no higher than Error, and the Send email or a page response for any Alerts with a severity of "Critical Error" or higher rule does not match any alerts with a severity less than Critical Error.
Creating Custom Event Rules

Creating Custom Computer Groups
To make it easier to manage which agents run the Request Sequences you create, you can use the MOM Administrator console to create new computer groups and associate them with your Request Sequence Groups. All computers added to your computer group must have the Web Sites and Services Agent Configuration Components installed, or they will not be able to successfully run the rules. The Request Sequence Groups created by the Web Sites and Services MP are found within the main Request Sequence Groups rule group, and they should not be moved.
