Document Conventions

The following conventional terms, text formats, and symbols are used throughout this book.

Convention

Description

Bold

Indicates the actual commands, words, or characters that you enter in a dialog box or at the command prompt.

Bold also indicates named user interface elements (such as the Program Properties dialog box).

Italic

Indicates a placeholder for information or parameters that you must provide. For example, if the procedure asks you to type file name, you must type the program name of the file.

Italic typeface also indicates new terms and the titles of other resources in the SMS documentation set.

ALL UPPERCASE

Indicates an acronym, key, or macro name. You can use lowercase letters when you type directory names or file names in a dialog box or at the indicated command prompt.

Monospace

Represents examples of screen text or entries that you might type at the command line or in initialization files.

 

onestep

Indicates a procedure.

 

Indicates an unordered list of related information that is not a procedure.
