Domain and Security Requirements
Computers must belong to a domain to become SMS 2003 clients. Client computers that are in workgroups are not supported by SMS.
Planning your SMS deployment includes a number of security considerations. Your SMS security strategy affects all of the following:
Operating system configuration
Support for software that works with SMS, such as IIS, SQL Server and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
Logical and physical placement of site systems
Creation of user and computer accounts
Communications to appropriate departments in the organization
Policies and procedures for use of SMS
