Add or remove Business Data Catalog permissions for a user or group

Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:
You have read the topic Manage authorization for the Business Data Catalog.
Your system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Important
Administrators must have View Only permission to the Shared Services Provider (SSP) administration site, and must have the Set permissions permission enabled.
Add or remove Business Data Catalog permissions for a user or group
Use the following procedure to add or remove Business Data Catalog permissions for a user or group.
Add or remove Business Data Catalog permissions for a user or group
On the Shared Services Administration home page, in the Business Data Catalog section, click Business Data Catalog permissions.
On the Manage Permissions: Business Data Catalog page, click Add Users/Groups.
Note
If a user or group is already in the list on this page, select the check box for that user or group, and then click Modify Permissions of Selected Users. You can also click the user or group name in the list, or select check boxes for two or more users or groups to modify permissions for multiple users or groups.
On the Add Users/Groups: Business Data Catalog page, in the Choose Users section, type the name of the users and groups that you want to add in the form domain\user.
Note
On the Modify Permissions: Business Data Catalog page, the user or group is already selected.
In the Choose Permissions section, select the permissions that you want for the added users and groups, as follows:
To enable administrators to import, update, and delete application definitions for line of business applications, select Edit. Users who have this permission can access the Import Application Definition page, the Business Data Catalog Applications page, and the Business Data Catalog Entities page, and can view and edit properties for applications and entities if they also have Edit permission enabled at the application and entity level.
To enable developers to execute method instances for business data entities, select Execute. To execute method instances for an entity, an account must have the Execute permission required for the Business Data Catalog, the application containing the entity, and the business data entity.
To enable information workers to select business data in SharePoint list columns, Web Parts, and other Web clients, select Select in Clients.
To enable Business Data Catalog administrators to manage permissions to the Business Data Catalog, select Set Permissions.
To remove a permission, clear the associated check box.
If you want to copy all permissions for the Business Data Catalog to all applications registered in the Business Data Catalog, click Copy all permissions to descendants.
Note
This overwrites any existing permissions for all applications and entities in the Business Data Catalog.
Click Save.
