Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:

  • You have read the topic Import user profiles.

  • Your system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

    Important

Administrators must have access to the Shared Services Provider (SSP) administration site, and must have the Manage User Profiles permission enabled to complete this procedure.

You can view a list of all user profiles that have been imported through connections to directory services. The default view of the View User Profiles page shows only active user profiles, but another view of the page shows profiles missing from the most recent import. Active user profiles are those that have been successfully crawled. Such profiles can be found in people searches, and the user profile properties can be used in targeted content such as SharePoint lists and Web Parts.

User profile administrators can find user profiles based on the first few letters of an account name, preferred name, or e-mail address. Only user profiles that match the search are displayed in the list.

From the View User Profiles page, user profiles can be added or deleted, and the values for individual user profiles can be edited. Each user profile also includes a link for managing the personal site for that user profile, if such a site has been created.

To view user profiles

Use the following procedure to view the list of user profiles.

View user profiles

  1. On the Shared Services Administration Home page, in the User Profiles and My Sites section, click User profiles and properties.

  2. On the User Profiles and Properties page, in the Profiles and Import Settings section, click View user profiles.

  3. On the View User Profiles page, you can perform the following actions:

    • To add a profile, click New Profile in the toolbar.

    • To edit a profile, click the Account name for the profile and then click Edit.

    • To delete a profile, click the Account name for the profile and then click Delete. You can delete multiple user profiles by selecting the check box for the user profiles that you want to delete, and clicking Delete on the toolbar.

    • To filter the view of the profile list, click Active Profiles or Profiles Missing from Import on the View menu on the toolbar.

    • To find a specific user profile or group of user profiles, click the Account name, Preferred name, or E-mail address options on the Find menu. Type the first few letters of the user profile you are trying to find, and then click the Find button. All user profiles that match the typed value for the selected option appear in the list, filtered by the view selected in the View menu on the toolbar.

      Note

Wildcard characters and searches on other parts of an account name are not supported.

    • To view a different page in a multiple page list of user profiles, click the page number on the Go to page menu.

      Note

The total number of pages is displayed even if the current filtered view of user profiles has fewer pages.
