Days-to-show-new-icon: Stsadm property (Windows SharePoint Services)

Specifies the number of days to display the "New" icon for items added to a Web site.

This property is available only from the command line.

stsadm -o setproperty

   -propertyname days-to-show-new-icon

   -propertyvalue <Number of days>

   [-url <http://server_name>]

The syntax for the getproperty operation is:

stsadm -o getproperty

   propertyname days-to-show-new-icon

   [-url <http://server_name>]

You can substitute -pn for -propertyname and -pv for -propertyvalue.

The following table shows possible values.


Name Value


Gets or sets the name of the property.


The number of days you want the "New" icon displayed after adding a new list item on the Web site.

The default value is two days.


Typically, a path to the URL of the Web application, in the form http://server_name.

To set the number of days to 14 days for the "New" icon to be displayed for items on a Web site, use the following syntax:

stsadm -o setproperty -pn days-to-show-new-icon -pv 14
