When you are performing a software update of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and you specify a different location for the Updates folder by modifying the SUpdateLocation parameter in the SetupUpdates element in the Config.xml file, Setup stops responding and an error message appears.

Cause

This is a known limitation. If you want to use the Updates folder, you must use the default location for the SUpdateLocation parameter. The default location is the Updates folder at the root of the update installation source.

Resolution

Do not change the value of the SUpdateLocation parameter.
