Publishing SharePoint Products and Technologies via IAG SP1

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

Alternate access mapping provides a mechanism for Office SharePoint Server administrators to identify the different ways in which users access SharePoint sites, ensuring that URLs (links) are displayed appropriately for the manner in which the user accesses the SharePoint site.

Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 with Service Pack 1 supports alternate access mapping in:

  • Windows SharePoint Services 2007

  • Office SharePoint Server 2007

You can publish Windows SharePoint Services 2007 and Office SharePoint Server 2007 with alternate access mapping through the IAG portal. Users will also be able to access these sites, without having to pass through the IAG portal, using the public host name indicated in the application configuration.

Important

Do not publish the same SharePoint server twice. If you had already published Office SharePoint Server 2007 before alternate access mapping was supported, remove the existing application and add a new Windows SharePoint Services/Office SharePoint Server 2007 - alternate access mapping application.

Adding the alternate access mapping application

To add an application

  1. On the desktop of the IAG, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Whale Communications IAG, and then click Configuration. Enter your password, as required, and then click OK.

  2. In the Configuration program, in the List section, select the trunk to which you want to add an application.

  3. In the Configuration section, in the Applications area, under the Applications list, click Add.

In the Add Application wizard, on the Select Application page, select Web Applications, and from the drop-down list select Windows SharePoint Services/ Office SharePoint Server 2007 - alternate access mapping. Follow the instructions on the screen. For details, click Help.

  4. When you reach the Web Servers page, enter the URL that the user uses to access the SharePoint site in the Public host name text box.

The public host name must match the server certificate; otherwise you will receive a warning after you activate the configuration.

Note

Unless this application is part of a web farm, you can only associate one server with it, because the public host name can only be associated with one server. Therefore, the server can only have one IP address.

Enter all other parameters as required, and then click Next.

  1. When you reach the Portal Link page, make sure that if you change the default value in the Application URL field, you only change the path.

When you complete the wizard, click Finish.

The Add Application wizard closes, and the application that you defined appears in the Applications area of the Configuration section.

  2. On the toolbar of the IAG Configuration, click the Activate configuration icon.

  3. On the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate.

Once the configuration is activated, the following message is displayed:

    IAG configuration activated successfully
