Save or Restore Network Firewall Settings

Use the following procedures to save or restore the configuration settings for the network firewall in Forefront TMG:

  • Save the current firewall settings as an XML file
  • Restore the network firewall settings from a saved XML file
  • Restore the default network firewall settings for Windows EBS

Note

You must use an account that is in the Domain Admins group to perform this procedure.

To save network firewall settings to an XML file

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Security tab, and in the results pane, click Network firewall. Then in the tasks pane, click Save firewall settings.

  3. In the Save dialog box, choose a name and a location for the XML file that will contain the current configuration settings for the network firewall.

Note

You must use an account that is in the Domain Admins group to perform this procedure.

Important

It is recommended that you save your current network firewall settings before you restore the settings from a saved XML file.

To restore network firewall settings from an XML file

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Security tab, and in the results pane, click Network firewall. Then in the tasks pane, click Apply saved settings.

  3. In the Open dialog box, choose a name and a location for a saved XML file that contains the configuration settings that you want to restore.

Important

To restore the default network firewall settings

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Security tab, and in the results pane, click Network firewall. Then in the tasks pane, click Restore default network firewall settings.

  3. In the Restore Default Network Firewall Settings dialog box, click Yes to confirm that you want to restore the default settings.
