Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:

  • You have read the topic Enable usage reporting.

  • Your system is running Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 with the latest service pack and updates.

Important

The View Only permission for the Shared Services Administration site is required to complete this procedure. You must have the Manage usage analytics services permission.

To enable the usage reporting shared service

Use this procedure to enable the usage reporting shared service. After you complete this procedure, you will have the option to enable the monitoring feature on site collections to monitor usage reports for the site collection.

Enable the usage reporting shared service

  1. On the home page of the installed Shared Services Provider (SSP), in the Office SharePoint Usage Reporting section, click Usage reporting.

  2. On the Configure Advanced Usage Analysis Processing page, in the Processing Settings section, select Enable advanced usage analysis processing.

  3. In the Search Query Logging section, select Enable search query logging.

  4. Click OK.

Note

If advanced usage analysis processing is not selected, usage reporting statistics will be minimal.
