To help you successfully master the exam objectives presented in this chapter, complete the following tasks.

Prepare the Infrastructure for Exchange Installation

Do all the practices in this section.

  • Practice 1: Prepare Schema in the Exchange Server 2003 Environment If you have access to the Exchange Server 2003 installation media, prepare a virtual environment, deploy Exchange Server 2003, and then prepare the schema for the deployment of Exchange Server 2007.
  • Practice 2: Prepare Domain for Exchange Server 2007 Deployment Create a child domain of your existing Tailspintoys.internal forest by adding a new domain controller.
  • Prepare this child domain for the deployment of Exchange Server 2007.

Prepare Servers for Exchange Installation

Do all the practices in this section.

Practice 1: MX Records Create two more host records in DNS.

  • Configure two MX records that point to these hosts.

Practice 2: Best Practices Analyzer Install the Microsoft Exchange Best Practices Analyzer from the Exchange Server 2007 installation media. Do not install any server roles.

  • Perform an Exchange 2007 readiness check on your environment.
