Suggested Practices

To help you successfully master the exam objectives presented in this chapter, complete the following tasks.

Enable Remote Desktop Remotely

  • Practice: Connect to Another Computer that Has Remote Desktop Disabled Connect remotely to the registry of a remote Windows Vista computer and configure the appropriate key value to enable Remote Desktop on that computer. (This key is described in the Real World section at the beginning of this chapter.) Then, connect to that computer by using Remote Desktop.

Offer Unsolicited Remote Assistance

  • Practice: Offer Unsolicited Remote Assistance Make the necessary firewall exceptions and Group Policy configurations to offer unsolicited Remote Assistance to another computer in the same Active Directory domain.

Accept a Remote Assistance Request from a Friend

  • Practice: Offer Remote Assistance to a Friend over the Internet Guide a friend through the steps of creating a Remote Assistance request and have the friend send you the request over the Internet. Use the request to share your friend’s desktop with his or her permission.
