Account Names and Passwords in Windows EBS

During software installation, you need to assign account names and passwords for your network that is running Windows EBS. First, you need an account with enterprise administrator privileges to perform administrator-level management tasks on the network during installation. If you do not currently have Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) running on your network, the Installation Wizard uses the default Administrators account, and you need to provide a password. If you already have AD DS running on your network, use an existing account that has enterprise administrator privileges.

To provide local administrator privileges on the Security Server, you also need to supply a password for the default local administrator account on that server. Because the Security Server is domain-connected, it is strongly recommended that you choose a different password for the local administrator account than the password that you use for the domain administrator.

Your password choices should follow the Windows Server 2008 recommendations for creating a strong password. The password should be at least eight characters long, and should contain characters from at least three of the following categories:

  • Uppercase letters

  • Lowercase letters

  • Numbers

  • Special characters (except the double quotation mark, ".)
