Domain Controllers Are Registered Correctly in AD DS

To install Windows EBS by joining to an existing Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) forest, all of the existing domain controllers in your environment must be registered in AD DS on the primary domain controller. This is to ensure that all of the existing domain controllers can properly replicate AD DS data and function.

If you have a domain controller in the existing domain that is not registered properly, or that has been partially demoted, the Windows EBS Installation Wizard detects the issue. You must correct the issue to complete the installation of Windows EBS. Typically, you must finish demoting the domain controller by removing configuration data from AD DS.

For more information about removing data from AD DS for a domain controller that has been partially demoted, see article 216498 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=70803).
