Customer Directory Integration Service

The Customer Directory Integration (CDI) section of the solution provides a framework for synchronizing user accounts between multiple domains. CDI makes use of Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003, Enterprise Edition. It provides a number of techniques for synchronizing account information and password changes, and integrates with the Active Directory directory service design promoted in the Centralized Management section of this solution. CDI also integrates with the Microsoft Provisioning System (MPS) detailed in the Service Provisioning section. This capability, coordinated sign-on, means there is:

  • A uniform logon process for end users.
  • Increased revenue potential for service providers.
  • Capacity to automate the creation of new user accounts and services in a single operation.

CDI is primarily for customers who have their own Active Directory in place, but who use applications hosted by a service provider, or for ISVs using a single domain for hosted services.
