Enhanced Device Security

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 includes the following Mobile Device Security features:

  • Policy Enforcement - Network administrators can set and change policies from their Exchange Server 2007 console and distribute them over the air to mobile devices. This gives administrators more flexibility to set which policies are mandatory and which users will be exempt from specific policies. You can refresh policies every two hours.
  • Local Lock - Today, if your client's mobile device is lost or stolen, security is greatly compromised. If someone has the mobile device, they might have plenty of time to discover the password. You can now enforce policies that lock the device after a specified number of incorrect password attempts have been made.
  • Remote Wipe - With the remote wipe feature, you can offer an even higher level of protection. If a device is reported lost or stolen, you can issue an order to wipe data and credentials from the wireless device. Because Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 works well with Exchange Server 2007 and Active Directory directory service, even if your customer loses a device, they can use their digital credentials elsewhere. Their smart card, for example, will still work for building access or to access network computing resources.
