View security status and information

Applies To: Windows SBS 2008

Windows SBS 2008 provides information about features that enhance network security. On the Security tab in the Windows SBS Console, you can view and access the following information:

  • Security essentials

    Summary information that relates to components that provide security functionality for the server and other networked computers. The server assesses each security component for overall status and displays the information on the Home and Security tabs of the Windows SBS Console, in the Summary Network Report, and in the Detailed Network Report.

  • Summary protection

    A summary report of the antivirus and antispyware software that is installed on networked computers. This information is displayed in a separate window.

To view a summary of installed antivirus or antispyware protection for network computers

  1. Open the Windows SBS Console.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • To view a summary report of the antivirus software that is installed on each network computer, click View summary of virus protection for file system.

    • To view a summary report of the antispyware software that is installed on each network computer, click View summary of spyware and malware protection.

To view summary information for individual network security components

  1. Open the Windows SBS Console.

  2. On the navigation bar, click Security, and then click the Security tab. The list view displays information about the security components that are installed on your server.

  3. Click a security component to select it. Summary information related to that component is displayed in the details pane.
