You can find the following values by running the ipconfig command in a Command Prompt window on the source server:

  • Host Name lists the name of the source server.

  • Primary Dns Suffix lists the internal domain name.

  • DHCP Enabled is Yes if DHCP is enabled on the server network adapter or No if DHCP is not enabled.

  • IP address lists the IP address for the source server.

  • Default Gateway lists the IP address for the default gateway.

To run the ipconfig command

  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

  2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter.

    ipconfig /all

To determine whether DHCP is running on the source server

  1. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.

  2. Scroll down and verify that the DHCP Server is started.
