Importing or exporting a Health Monitor configuration

Microsoft® Windows® Small Business Server 2003 includes two wizards that help you transfer Health Monitor configuration settings from one computer running Windows Small Business Server 2003 to another. These wizards include:

Wizard Purpose

Export Health Monitor Configuration

The Export Health Monitor Configuration Wizard guides you through the process of exporting a customized Health Monitor configuration to a .mof file, which can then be imported by other computers running Windows Small Business Server 2003.

This wizard makes it easy to create a master Health Monitor configuration template, which can be quickly deployed across multiple computers running Windows Small Business Server 2003.

Import Health Monitor Configuration

The Import Health Monitor Configuration Wizard guides you through the process of importing a Health Monitor configuration that was exported from another computer running Windows Small Business Server 2003.

After using the Import Health Monitor Configuration Wizard to import alerts that were created on another computer running Windows Small Business Server 2003, the imported alerts may not be sent as expected. This occurs because the association between the imported action and its respective data group or data collector is no longer valid.

To resolve this issue, you may need to update settings for the action and data group or data collector properties. For information about how to update settings for an imported Health Monitor configuration, see To update settings for an imported Health Monitor configuration.

Notes

  • To run the Health Monitor Configuration wizards, you must be a member of the Domain Admins security group.
