Add, edit, or remove attachments from Internet e-mail
To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.
Removing certain types of attachments from e-mail received from the Internet helps to prevent a virus or malicious program from accessing your local network through e-mail. By default, the first time you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard, potentially dangerous e-mail attachment types will be removed from Internet e-mail.
- Start the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard.
- On the Connection Type page, click Do not change connection type.
- On the Firewall page, click Do not change firewall configuration.
- On the Web Services Configuration page, click Do not change current Web Server certificate.
- On the Internet E-mail page, click Enable Internet e-mail.
- Follow the instructions until you reach the Remove E-mail Attachments page, and then do one or more of the following:
- To add a new attachment type that you want to remove from Internet e-mail, click Add. In the E-mail Attachment Type dialog box, type the values for File name extension and Description.
- To modify a selected attachment type that is already assigned, click Edit. In the E-mail Attachment Type dialog box, type the values for File name extension and Description.
- To remove the selected attachment type from the list of attachment types, click Remove.
- Follow the instructions to complete the wizard.
