Modem Selection

To enable dial-in access, you must select the modem device that your remote client computers will use for the dial-in connection.

Important

  • If you select a modem that is already configured for use by Fax Service or for your dial-up connection to the Internet, you will receive a warning message recommending to not use the same modem for remote access. Using the same modem for both services can result in conflicts between the two services. For example, when you use the same modem for both services, Fax Service might respond to a user dialing in for remote access before the remote access service is able to respond, which results in the user not being able to remotely access the local network.
