The following table summarizes the path for upgrading each of the server roles in Hosted Messaging and Collaboration version 4.0.

Centralized Management Servers

  • AD01

Apply all critical updates from Windows Update, especially:

  • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

Service Provisioning Servers

  • MPS01

  • MPS02

  • MPSSQL01

  • MPSSQL02

  • PROV01
  • Apply all critical updates from Windows Update, especially:

    • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

  • Ensure KB939216 hotfix has been applied on MPS01 and MPS02.

  • Install SQL 2005 Service Pack 2 on MPSSQL01 and MPSSQL02.

  • Upgrade Exchange 2007 Management Tools with SP1 on MPS01 and MPS02.

  • Perform the Deployment Tool upgrade steps.

Hosted Exchange Servers

  • EXCASUM01

  • EXEDGE01

  • EXHUB01

  • EXHUB02

  • EXMBX01-NODE1

  • EXMBX01-NODE2

  • EXMBX02
  • Apply all critical updates from Windows Update, especially:

    • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

  • Install Exchange Server 2007 SP1.

Windows SharePoint Servers

  • COLLAB01

  • Apply all critical updates from Windows Update, especially:

    • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

  • Install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 on SQLBE01.

Operations Manager Servers

  • SCOM01

  • SCOMSQL01

  • MOMSQL01
  • Apply all critical updates from Windows Update, especially:

    • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

    • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

  • Install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 on SCOMSQL01.

  • Install System Center Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1.

  • Upgrade Performance Warehouse Database on MOMSQL01.

  • Upgrade the Hosting Solution reports.

  • Deploy Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Active Directory Collector.
