Change your SMTP password

Use the Change SMTP E-mail Password task if you must update the TURN after Authentication information used by Exchange server to notify your Internet service provider (ISP) that it is online and ready to receive e-mail before e-mail is transferred.

To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.

  1. Open Server Management. To open Server Management, click Start, and then click Server Management.
  2. In the console tree, click Internet and E-mail.
  3. In the details pane, click Change E-mail Password.
  4. Complete the requested information. For descriptions of the options, see Change E-mail Password.

The Change E-mail Password task changes the TURN after Authentication password that is used to receive SMTP e-mail from your ISP's e-mail server.

If you modify the user name or password, you must request that your ISP update the TURN after Authentication setting.

If TURN after Authentication is not configured for your SMTP e-mail, you receive an error that SmallBusiness SMTP Connector is not configured to use TURN after Authentication. To configure TURN after Authentication, run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard. However, verify with your ISP that this is the type of signal you should use. Selecting the incorrect signal type will result in e-mail not being delivered from your ISP.
