Synchronize e-mail messages now

To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.

  1. Open Server Management. To open Server Management, click Start, and then click Server Management.
  2. In the console tree, click Internet and E-mail.
  3. In the details pane, click Synchronize E-mail. An informational message appears stating that your Exchange server will now connect to the Internet to send and receive e-mail.

Note

Synchronizing e-mail does not affect the regular schedule that you have set for sending and receiving e-mail.

Note

Synchronizing e-mail allows you to immediately send and receive Internet e-mail. If the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes is configured, the Synchronize E-mail task also retrieves mail from your POP3 account(s).

Note

If an error occurs while Exchange attempts to connect to the Internet, you will receive a message indicating to check the Exchange server services. For more information, see Synchronizing e-mail. Additionally, you should ensure that you have a SMTP connector configured. For more information, see Connect to the Internet.
