Update Services Home Page

The Update Services home page is the main way to manage Update Services. You can use the home page for nearly all Update Services administrative tasks. On the Update Services home page, you can:

  • View the overall status of Update Services. For example, you can view the number of update installation errors (if any).
  • View the basic settings for Update Services. For example, you can see the update level for the Client Computers group.
  • See the next synchronization time. This indicates the time that the next synchronization is scheduled to begin.

You can also use the following links on the Update Services home page to perform specific management tasks:

Review Errors

Links to the Installation Errors node, where you can review update installation errors and system errors relating to Update Services.

Review Pending Updates

Links to the Waiting for Review node, where you can review updates that are awaiting installation.

Review Status of Updates Installation

Links to the Installation Status node, where you can review the history of all updates processed by Update Services.

Change Update Services Settings

Opens the Update Services Settings dialog, where you can change settings related to:

  • Server updates level.
  • Client-computer updates level.
  • The updates schedule for both the Server Computers group and the Client Computers group.
  • Computer group membership.

In many cases, you may not need to change the default settings. However, if you do need to change the default settings, use the Update Services Settings dialog.

There are three other links on the Update Services home page that are also present on every page in the Update Services snap-in:

Links to the home page of the parent node.

Refresh

Updates the page that you are viewing with the latest information available for that node.
