RMS Precertification Service

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

The pre-certification service runs only on the RMS root cluster. This service enables a server to request a rights account certificate on behalf of a user, and can be used to develop custom applications. Some examples that use this service are Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

The pre-certification service application file, Precertification.asmx, is located in the Certification virtual directory that is in IIS.
