Purge Messages

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012

You cannot delete an individual message from a queue. Instead, you can purge all messages to completely clear the contents of the queue.

Purging messages

To purge messages

  1. Open Computer Management.

  2. In the console tree, right-click Queue messages or the subqueue from which you want to purge messages.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Message Queuing/ YourQueueFolder (such as Public Queues or Private Queues)/ MainQueueName /Queue messages or SubqueueName
  3. Point to All Tasks , and then click Purge .

  4. Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete all messages in the queue.

Additional considerations

  • To open Computer Management on Windows® 7, click Start , right-click Computer , and then click Manage .

  • To open Computer Management on Windows Server® 2008 R2, click Start , click All Programs , click Administrative Tools , and then click Computer Management .
