A Test Message Cannot Be Sent to a Particular Queue

Updated: June 25, 2007

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Describes a specific problem with Message Queuing. Includes step-by-step instructions for fixing the problem.

This problem typically occurs when attempting to send a test message from Computer Management or Active Directory Users and Computers. You are unable to send a test message to a Message Queuing queue from Computer Management or Active Directory Users and Computers unless the target queue has the appropriate queue type ID.

When you attempt to send a test message from Computer Management or Active Directory Users and Computers, only queues with a type ID of {55EE8F33-CCE9-11CF-B108-0020AFD61CE9} are available in the Destination queue edit box displayed in the Sending Test Messages from<computer name> dialog box.

Follow either of the steps below to create a queue with the appropriate type ID so that the queue will be available in the Destination queue edit box displayed in the Sending Test Messages from<computer name> dialog box.

  • Use Computer Management or Active Directory Users and Computers to create a new non transactional public queue, set the type ID property of the queue to {55EE8F33-CCE9-11CF-B108-0020AFD61CE9}.

  • Click New Queue from the Sending Test Messages from<computer name> dialog box and enter the full path for the new queue. Test queues that are created from the New Queue Path Name dialog box will automatically have the appropriate type ID set.

Use Computer Management or Active Directory Users and Computers to send a test message, the new queue should be available in the Destination queue edit box displayed in the Sending Test Messages from<computer name> dialog box.
